University of Sahiwal organizes inter-faith harmony seminar

The Punjab Higher Education Commission has prepared an educational statement for the promotion of peace and tolerance in universities, the recommendations of which will soon be submitted to the Punjab government.

Religious harmony is indispensable for the promotion of peace. We have to work together.
A tolerant educational narrative will enable different sections of society to reduce differences and live together peacefully.

Universities shall coordinate with the media, civil society, associations, government officials and general public to promote peace, tolerance, coexistence and interfaith harmony in the society.

He said that the culture of dialogue and research will be promoted in universities. If common people are aware, the hate narrative will not spread and extremism will be reduced.

We will collaborate with civil society for interfaith harmony. Addressing the seminar, Director of Research, University of Sahiwal, Dr. Muhammad Ayub said that to build a balanced personality, there is a need to create a culture of dialogue and understanding in the universities.

On this occasion, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, head of Islamic Department of University of Okara, said that the whole world is facing poverty, terrorism, climate change and various conflicts.

Xenophobia, Islamophobia, racism and divisiveness such extremist attitudes tear apart societies.
We have to connect people and societies, bring them closer together, create civilization and tolerance for progress.

We have to create opportunities to develop human resources, intolerance results in nothing but disaster.
Political, social, religious leaders should teach people good morals.

At the end of the seminar Dr. Amin Abid, Head of Chemistry Department, University of Sahiwal, presented commemorative shields to the guests, later the guests also planted saplings in the university lawn.
