Awareness campaign continue in Sahiwal under Lodhran Pilot Project Awaz Do

Deputy Director of Social Welfare and Baitul-Mal Akasha Rasool has said that the end of violence against women is necessary for a peaceful society.

The present government is fully committed to prevent violence against women, it needs the support and cooperation of the people.

He was addressing a dialogue in connection with the 16-day awareness campaign regarding the elimination of violence against women under the auspices of the Lodhran Pilot Project, Awaz Do Program at the Women’s Protection Center here.

District Women Protection Officer Fauzia Jabin, Divisional Coordinator Punjab Commission of Women Shamila Iqbal, Chairperson Standing Committee for Women Chamber of Commerce Naghmana Akmal and Social Worker Najma Rani participated.

Dr. Alveera Waqas, program coordinator, said that LPP is working in 24 villages of Sahiwal under the Awaaz Du program to change attitudes regarding gender-based violence, early marriage and social cohesion in Sahiwal district and 12 of these villages Voice Awareness Centers have been established.

Naghmana Akmal said that no religion allows oppression, violence and discrimination against women, but preaches peace and tolerance, which are essential ingredients for any strong society.

He also emphasized that in this regard basic education of rights should be given in all educational institutions so that the young generation gets awareness.

Fawzia Jabeen informed about the legal assistance of women in her organization Women’s Protection Centre, divorce, child support, women not getting a share in property and free legal aid.
