WhatsApp Revamps Contact Icons with New Colorful Themes
Allowing users to identify contacts and groups more easily at a glance.
WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Meta, is about to introduce a new feature that brings more color and personalization to chats.
Allowing users to identify contacts and groups more easily at a glance.
In its latest update, WhatsApp will replace the standard grey icons for contacts, groups, and communities with vibrant, themed icons.
This change targets the grey default icons currently used for contacts and groups that lack profile photos, making the interface feel more dynamic and user-friendly.
According to WABetaInfo, the upcoming update will apply unique color-coded icons for each contact and group without a profile image, similar to the colorful icon system in the Android address book.
These icons will help users identify contacts and groups more intuitively, even when profile pictures are hidden for privacy reasons or are left blank.
Each themed icon will feature distinct colors and design elements to differentiate between contacts with similar names or to visually separate groups, making it quicker and easier to locate the desired chat without opening each one individually.
This feature is currently being tested in WhatsApp’s latest beta version for Android (2.24.24.12) and can be accessed by beta users through the Google Play Store.
While a full rollout has yet to be announced, users can look forward to a more colorful and organized chat experience in future WhatsApp updates.
