VC University of Sahiwal meets the Delegation of Minority Rights
Prof. Dr. Kalyan Singh also presented his book (Guru Nanak Sahib Ji) to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Javed Akhtar.
Sahiwal (Sedhr Punjab – Director Public Relations) Vice-Chancellor University of Sahiwal Professor Dr. Javed Akhtar has said that minorities have played a significant role in the education, health and economic sectors of the country.
He said that people belonging to different minorities are playing their important role in the development of the country which cannot be forgotten. He said that the protection of the rights of the minorities is being ensured and fee concessions are being given to encourage them along with providing opportunities to get education.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the members of the national lobbying delegation for minority rights in his office. The meeting delegation led by Professor Dr. Kalyan Singh included Dr. Iran Andreas, Habakkuk Gul (former MPA), Atif Jameel Advocate, Shehzad Francis and Rumana Bashir.
Dr. Hafiz Tariq Masood, Head of Physics Department of the University and Dr. Muhammad Ayub, Media Coordinator were also present on the occasion. Dr. Javed Akhtar during the meeting assured 2% quota for minorities in university admissions and 5% share in jobs.
The delegation members highlighted the representation of minorities in higher education and employment sectors. He said that providing equal employment opportunities to the minorities would go a long way in reducing the socio-economic disparity between different communities.
