Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan visits United Arab Emirates today

Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar will pay a 3-day visit to the United Arab Emirates from today.

PM Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar will meet the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

During the visit to the United Arab Emirates, MoUs for investment are expected to be signed. The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan will also participate in COP 28 Climate Change Global Conference.

It should be noted that the caretaker federal cabinet of Pakistan has approved 7 memorandums of understanding for investment between Pakistan and Kuwait.

The memorandums of understanding for investment will be signed during the visit of the prime minister of Pakistan to Kuwait.

This approval was given in Friday’s meeting of the caretaker federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, which was held at the Prime Minister’s House, Islamabad.

As a result of the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, Kuwait will sign memorandums of understanding to invest $10 billion in 7 projects of various sectors in Pakistan.

These projects include expansion of water reservoirs, mining facilities, protection and expansion of mangrove forests for coastal areas, investment projects in the IT sector, and food security projects.

The Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet appreciated the efforts of the Special Investment Council and the concerned ministries in this regard.

UAE Urges Overstaying Expats to Utilize Final Day of Visa Amnesty: “Leave Now, Return Later if Needed”

The UAE’s visa amnesty period, which ends on October 31, is providing overstaying foreigners a chance to leave the country without incurring penalties or facing re-entry bans. “If you’re still waiting on a job offer, it’s advisable to exit now and reapply later,” advised Lt. Col. Salem M. Bin Ali, head of customer happiness at Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), in a message to overstayers.

The amnesty, in effect since September 1, covers various visa types, including expired tourist and residency visas. Officials have clarified that overstayers leaving under this program will not face fines or re-entry restrictions. However, if they remain past the amnesty deadline without rectifying their status, they will face penalties and possible deportation, as per Major-General Sultan Al Nuaimi of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

Thousands of overstayers have visited GDRFA centers, with many expressing mixed feelings. Imran, a 45-year-old from Pakistan, who overstayed for nearly a year, decided to take advantage of the amnesty, explaining, “I waited, hoping for a job offer, but without it, I’ll return home and reapply later.” Similarly, Khabir, a 38-year-old Nepali, received an exit pass and plans to return once he secures a proper employment visa.

As part of the program’s wrap-up, GDRFA increased staff at its Al Awir center to manage the last-day rush. This year marks the UAE’s fourth visa amnesty since 2007, following the last program held in 2018.
