The “Road Accident Review Committee” held a meeting at Montgomery Hall, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mahmood.

The meeting revealed that authorities reported a total of 1110 traffic accidents in Sahiwal district during November. Out of these, 914 accidents occurred in Sahiwal tehsil, while 196 took place in Chichawatni tehsil.
These figures emphasized the seriousness of the accidents, raising significant concern. While identifying the causes, the participants highlighted violations of speed limits, irresponsible driving, and the non-use of helmets as major factors.
Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood urged immediate and effective measures to address these issues. He instructed officials to tighten traffic rule enforcement at high-risk locations and raise public awareness about the importance of following the rules.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to launch a public awareness campaign promptly, focusing on the mandatory use of helmets and strict adherence to speed limits.
He emphasized the necessity of measures like improving roads, installing traffic signals, and placing warning boards at dangerous spots to prevent accidents.
The officers at the meeting pledged that all departments would collaborate under a unified strategy to reduce the traffic accident rate in Sahiwal district.
