Today’s consultation session on the Reserved Seats Case headed by Qazi Faez Isa in the Supreme Court has ended.
A full court bench meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. All the judges included in the full court bench were present in the advisory session.
It should be remembered that the decision of the case related to the reserved seats of the Sunni Ittehad Council is likely to be announced today.
Even before this, a consultative meeting regarding the decision of the case was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The previous session on reserved seats lasted for about an hour and a half, in which all the judges of the 13-member full court participated.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Athar Minullah, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Irfan. Saadat Khan and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan are part of the Full Court.
Sources said that the decision of the case related to reserved seats was considered in the last meeting.
What happened in the case of reserved seats in the Supreme Court?
A 13-member full court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in the Supreme Court of Pakistan heard the appeals of the Sunni Ittehad Council on reserved seats.
On May 31, a full court bench of available judges was constituted on appeals from the Sunni Ittehad Council, which heard 9 appeals on reserved seats of the Sunni Ittehad Council.
The lawyer of the Sunni Ittehad Council told the court that there are 77 disputed seats in total, these 77 specific seats should have been given to the Sunni Ittehad Council but other parties got them, the 77 seats include 22 seats of the National Assembly and 55 seats of the Provincial Assemblies.
The Election Commission had suspended 77 controversial reserved seats after the Supreme Court’s order.
Which party got how many additional reserved seats?
Out of the total 77 contested seats, 22 are reserved seats for the national and 55 provincial assemblies. The Election Commission of Pakistan suspended these seats through a notification dated May 13.
Among the suspended 22 seats of the National Assembly, 11 seats for women from Punjab and 8 seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are included. The suspended seats in the National Assembly also include 3 reserved minority seats.
In the National Assembly, PML-N got 14 seats, People’s Party got 5 seats, JUIF got 3 additional seats.
21 women and 4 minority reserved seats are suspended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, out of which JUIF got 10, PML-N 7, PPP 7, ANP got 1 additional seat.
24 reserved seats for women and 3 minority seats are suspended in the Punjab Assembly, out of which the PML-N got 23, the People’s Party 2, the PML-Q and the Stabilization-e-Pakistan Party one additional seat each.
2 reserved seats for women and 1 minority seat are suspended from Sindh Assembly where PPP got 2 and MQM got 1 reserved seat.
