PTI Founder’s Continued Detention Despite Bail Leaves Workers Disappointed

The Islamabad High Court approved Imran Khan’s bail on Wednesday, November 20.

Islamabad (Farooq Aqdas) – Despite the court granting Imran Khan bail in the Toshakhana case, authorities have not released him, leading to disappointment among PTI workers.

The workers, unaware of the details and nature of the remaining cases, heard the news in an emotional manner.

Meanwhile, lawyers supporting Imran Khan and PTI, despite knowing the facts, expressed hope for his release.

After the approval of Imran Khan’s bail, his release was hindered by cases filed in Rawalpindi in September and October.

The founder of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), Imran Khan, remains under arrest in several ongoing legal matters.

He is currently facing six major cases, many of which have seen progress in his favor, including acquittals, suspended sentences, or the granting of bail.

However, some legal challenges are still active.

However, the government still has a legal justification for keeping Imran Khan in jail due to some of these ongoing cases, should they choose to pursue them.

One significant case against Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, was the “Iddat” case, where the lower court sentenced them to 7 years in prison each.

However, the High Court acquitted them in July 2024.

In the cipher case, the lower court sentenced Imran Khan to 10 years in prison, but the High Court acquitted him in June 2024.

In two Toshakhana cases, he receives a 3-year and a 14-year prison sentence, but in April 2024, the High Court suspends both of those sentences.

Another case related to Toshakhana, known as Toshakhana 2, is currently under trial in Adiala Jail.

The Islamabad High Court approved Imran Khan’s bail on Wednesday, November 20.

Additionally, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case against Imran Khan and his wife, involving 190 million pounds, is under trial.

In May 2024, the court granted bail to Imran Khan in this case.

The government is technically close to releasing Imran Khan, but it remains uncertain whether authorities will proceed with arrests in the numerous cases related to the events of May 9th.
