Controversial bill presented in the Senate to amend the number of SC judges

Senator Abdul Qadir has presented the bill in the Senate to amend the number of judges of the Supreme Court. The bill demanded that the number of judges of the Supreme Court should be increased to 20 besides the Chief Justice.
Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar asked the committee to send the bill to increase the number of judges.
Senator Abdul Qadir said that more than 53,000 cases are pending in the Supreme Court. It takes two to three years for the cases to come to the Supreme Court. I think 16 judges should be increased. There are many constitutional cases in the Supreme Court.
Abdul Qadir said that cases worth billions of rupees are stuck in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court does not have time to hear such cases. Our judicial system is bottom-up.
Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that these are facts, death penalty cases are pending, life imprisonment cannot be more than 25 years, one person spent 34 years in jail due to pending appeal. Death penalty appeals have been pending since 2015.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that PTI is worried that something is going to be taken over, why would this happen? Peshawar High Court has asked for the addition of ten judges, there is a PTI government, we have given them those judges.

Barrister Ali Zafar said that this law has come suddenly to increase the number of judges, judicial martial law is being tried. We are ready to increase the number of two judges, if you want to increase the number of judges, first increase from the subordinate judiciary.
Senator Saifullah Abro said that since the decision of the Supreme Court, the government has been talking about increasing the number of judges. They actually want to give extension to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
