National Stadium Revamped for Champions Trophy 2025
During his visit, Naqvi highlighted the need for both speed and quality in the renovation efforts.
Karachi’s National Stadium is undergoing extensive renovations as preparations ramp up for the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where the venue will host several key matches.
On Wednesday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium to assess the progress of the revamp, which includes critical structural and functional upgrades.
Notably, a nearly completed steel-structured building is among the major improvements under construction.
The organizers are installing elevated electronic screens to ensure fans enjoy unobstructed views during matches.
Additional upgrades include:
Relocated parking facilities to enhance accessibility for attendees.
New enclosures designed to improve spectator comfort and safety.
A security trench separating the seating area from the playing field to bolster crowd control and safety measures.
During his visit, Naqvi highlighted the need for both speed and quality in the renovation efforts.
“We must maintain the highest standards while ensuring the project stays on schedule,” he stated, urging all stakeholders to prioritize timely delivery without compromising on excellence.
The construction work is being led by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), whose officials briefed Naqvi on the current status of the project.
PCB’s Director of Infrastructure and the stadium’s management team were also present during the inspection.
These renovations are part of PCB’s broader strategy to upgrade cricket facilities across the country, ensuring Pakistan is fully prepared to host high-profile international tournaments.
The enhancements aim to not only meet global standards but also elevate the fan experience for years to come.
