Scholarships Were Not Granted Based on Recommendations: Maryam Nawaz

This year, 30,000 e-bikes have been provided on installments. While I don't make promises, I will try to distribute 100,000 e-bikes for free next year.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that scholarships were not awarded based on any recommendations.

Speaking at a ceremony at Sargodha University, she said this year’s Merit Scholarship Program is worth 72 billion rupees, and no student was asked about their political affiliations.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that all sons and daughters of Punjab are equal in her eyes. “I have three children; my son Junaid is very popular, and I often hear about him everywhere,” she remarked.

The Chief Minister further stated, “I see all of you not as a Chief Minister but as a mother. The state acts like a mother.” Scholarships have also been granted to students from reputable private universities.

“This year, 30,000 e-bikes have been provided on installments. While I don’t make promises, I will try to distribute 100,000 e-bikes for free next year.”

Maryam Nawaz added, “I want students to understand that it’s not Maryam Nawaz sitting in the Chief Minister’s seat, but your mother.”

She also clarified, “No appointments, including those of DCs, commissioners, and police officers, have been made based on recommendations. PML-N MNAs are unhappy because I don’t carry out transfers and postings as per their preferences. No one can claim that I have made appointments that are not based on merit.”
