Lamborghini Temerario: Shaping Adrenaline into Form

Borkert’s first major project with his team was the Revuelto, Lamborghini’s iconic V12 supercar.

“Our goal is to transform dreams into reality and electrify the senses – we give adrenaline a shape.”

A visit to Lamborghini’s Centro Stile is nothing short of thrilling, especially under the guidance of Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Head of Design.

With an infectious enthusiasm, he walks us through the Temerario’s journey, a design story that began in 2016 when he first took charge.

A Vision Begins

Borkert’s first major project with his team was the Revuelto, Lamborghini’s iconic V12 supercar.

But as they created this flagship, they were also conceiving the successor to the smaller Huracán.

Designing two distinct cars meant ensuring each had a unique identity, which started with differentiating their wheelbases to establish distinct impressions.

While the Temerario was still unnamed and in conceptual stages back then, a mock-up of its design was always evolving alongside the Revuelto.

Crafting a New Design Language

Lamborghini designed the Temerario and the Revuelto with distinct purposes, each embodying a unique legacy.

The Revuelto follows in the tradition of iconic models like the Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador, while the Temerario takes the baton from the Gallardo and Huracán, yet with a twist: this time, it’s entirely Lamborghini in its engineering and spirit.

Built on a high-strength aluminum spaceframe, the Temerario demanded a fresh design language to match its innovative build.

“Every Lamborghini must immediately look like a Lamborghini,” says Borkert. “It has to carry the brand’s DNA while also surprising and thrilling.”

Design Symbols: The Hexagon and the Y-Shape

The Temerario’s design, with its mid-rear engine and iconic wedge shape, reflects Lamborghini’s classic DNA.

The hexagon emerges as a key visual element, appearing in the tail lights and exhaust outlets, a design trait tracing back to the Marzal concept.

Over time, this motif evolved into the Y-shape, seen prominently in recent Lamborghini models like the Revuelto headlights.

“Feel Like a Pilot”
Inside, the Temerario embraces Lamborghini’s “Feel like a Pilot” philosophy, aligning with the Revuelto’s commitment to immersive driving.

Interior space, especially headroom, is optimized to accommodate drivers even with helmets, a crucial factor for a track-friendly sports car.

Despite this, the design keeps the car’s low-slung sports car profile. Scaling up the proportions allowed Lamborghini to achieve the perfect balance of form and function in the Temerario.

A Palette of Over 400 Colors

The cockpit features low seating, a streamlined dashboard, and Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal accents on controls and vents.

Lamborghini’s Art & Colour Atelier department takes personalization to the next level through its Ad Personam program, offering more than 400 colors.

“We are color wizards,” Borkert jokes, referencing the atelier’s creative scope.

Lamborghini’s collaborations, like the Lamborghini 63 yacht and Ducati Streetfighter V4, showcase its innovative spirit beyond cars.

The Lamborghini Temerario captures Lamborghini’s drive for adrenaline, blending bold design with meticulous craftsmanship.
