The notification of the approval of phone tapping to the secret agency ISI has been challenged in Islamabad High Court.
6 members of the Pakistan Bar Council filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against the notification.
The petition stated that the notification issued under Section 54 of the Telecommunication Act is illegal, the Fair Trial Act, 2013 provided a complete mechanism in this regard.
The petition sought to quash the notification authorizing phone tapping to the secret agency as illegal and to suspend the notification pending the pendency of the case.
Secretary IT, Secretary Defense, Secretary Interior and PTA have been made parties in the petition filed by the Pakistan Bar Council.
Members of Bar Council Shafqat Mehmood Chauhan, Abid Zuberi, Chaudhry Ishtiaq, Munir Ahmed Kakar, Tahir Faraz Abbasi, Abid Saqi are also among the petitioners.
