India Triumphs Over Pakistan in Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup Opener
India’s bowling unit, spearheaded by Sonam Yadav, dominated the Pakistani lineup.
India claimed a resounding nine-wicket victory against Pakistan in the opening Group A match of the Cricket Council’s (ACC) Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup on Sunday.
After winning the toss at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval, Pakistan elected to bat but struggled to make an impact.
The Green Shirts managed to post only 67 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan stood out for the Zoofishan Ayyaz-led side, contributing 24 runs off 32 balls, including four boundaries. However, her efforts weren’t enough to build momentum.
India’s bowling unit, spearheaded by Sonam Yadav, dominated the Pakistani lineup.
Yadav delivered an exceptional performance, claiming four wickets for just six runs in her four overs, leaving the opposition reeling.
In response, India’s batting lineup chased the modest target with ease, reaching 68 runs in just 7.5 overs.
Left-handed batter G Kamilini starred with an unbeaten 44 off 29 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes.
She was supported by Sanika Chalke, who added 19 runs. Pakistan managed to claim only one wicket in the second innings, courtesy of Fatima Khan.
Following the defeat, Pakistan will face Nepal on Monday in their second group-stage fixture, scheduled to begin at 2 pm local time.
Tournament Overview
Group A comprises Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B includes Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
The six-team tournament is being played in a T20 format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super-Four stage.
The Super-Four matches are slated for December 19 and 20, with the final scheduled for December 22.
Additional placement matches for the fifth, sixth, third, and fourth positions will take place on December 18 and 22, respectively.
