Shahid Afridi Becomes a Grandfather Again: Welcomes Baby Girl Ayra

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi is celebrating the arrival of another grandchild as his eldest daughter, Aqsa Afridi, has been blessed with a baby girl. Afridi shared the joyful news with his fans on Instagram on Tuesday.

“Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed Aqsa & Naseer with beautiful Ayra,” he wrote, expressing gratitude. “Daughters are the purest reflection of His mercy and the most precious blessing. Keep us in your prayers.”

The heartfelt post was accompanied by a touching photo of the newborn’s tiny feet cradled in her parents’ hands, symbolizing the love and warmth of the special moment.

Aqsa Afridi tied the knot with Naseer in December 2022 in an intimate nikah ceremony, with her rukhsati taking place the following year.

At the time of her wedding, Afridi shared an emotional note for his daughter, reminiscing about her childhood and wishing her well for her new journey.

“Meri pyari beti [my dear daughter], it feels like just yesterday I held you in my arms for the first time. Although you’re starting a new chapter in your life, you’ll always have my heart because I’m the man who loved you first. May Allah keep you both under His Divine protection and bless you with a beautiful life together. Ameen,” Afridi had written.

This is the second time Afridi has become a grandparent in 2024.

Earlier in August, his second daughter, Ansha Afridi, and her husband, Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ali Yar.

With the addition of baby Ayra to the Afridi family, Shahid Afridi continues to cherish his role as a doting grandfather.
