Gen Asim Munir takes command as 17th Army Chief of Pakistan
A farewell guard of honor was presented to General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa hands over the baton to Gen Asim Munir who has assumed command of Pakistan Army as the 17th Army Chief.
According to the details, Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has resigned from his post after completing his 6-year tenure including 3 years of extension.
A splendid ceremony of change of command in Pakistan Army took place at the Army Hockey Ground adjacent to General Headquarters Rawalpindi. Military bands presented beautiful tunes on the culture, folk songs and national anthems of all provinces. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza also attended the event.
The chief guest of the ceremony, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, along with General Asim Munir, was greeted by the guards on his arrival at the venue. The change of command ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. A farewell guard of honor was presented to General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
X-Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa inspected the honor guard, the honor guard also marched past in front of Salami’s platform.
At the beginning of the ceremony, outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and General Asim Munir visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, where prayers were offered for Pak Army martyrs.
Honorary Sword winner General Syed Asim Munir participated in the change of command ceremony wearing the shoulder ranks and collar medal of the four-star general.
Chiefs of all armed forces, senior civil and military officers, diplomats and journalists also participated in the grand ceremony which was held at GHQ Rawalpindi.
Apart from this, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb also attended the ceremony.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa delivered a farewell speech before handing over the command and said that the appointment of the new army chief will be positive for the country and the army.
At the end of the ceremony, General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over the baton to the new Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and congratulated him with a hug.
