Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal chairs District Agriculture meeting

Deputy Commissioner Ikram ul Haq directed the fertilizer dealers to ensure availability of fertilizer to the farmers at fixed price.

Sahiwal (Sahiwal News – Arshad Farooq Butt) Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Ikram ul Haq has said that despite the limited resources, the problems of the farmers will be solved on priority basis.

He said that a lot of work needs to be done to ensure the provision of facilities to the small farmers so that they can also play their important role in the development of the country. He was presiding over a meeting of the District Agriculture Advisory and Task Force Sub-Committee at his office here, which was attended by officials from all concerned departments, representatives of fertilizer companies, Kisan Etihad representatives, fertilizer dealers and farmers.

Deputy Commissioner Ikram ul Haq directed the fertilizer dealers to ensure availability of fertilizer to the farmers at fixed price. Similarly, he also directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of canal water and electricity.

It was informed in the meeting that the Sahiwal Agriculture Department is continuing to work under the slogan of the Punjab Government, ‘Wheat import is not exported’ and farmers are being trained in this regard. He further informed that this year the target of 275 thousand acres of wheat cultivation has been set in Sahiwal district, out of which 119 thousand acres of wheat has been cultivated and the rest of the target will be achieved.

On this occasion, proposals were also made by the farmers to make open bidding of the commodities in the market, to install government forks under the control of the market committee.
