Relatives Speak Out on Daughter-in-law’s Murder by In-laws
Initial investigations reveal that Zara, the daughter of police ASI Shabbir Ahmed from Gujranwala, married her cousin Qadeer four years ago.
Qadeer, who resides in Saudi Arabia, had taken Zara with him but she often traveled back to Pakistan. Around two and a half years ago, the couple had a son named Shafee.
After the marriage, Qadeer started transferring all his earnings to Zara’s account, which led to disputes between Zara and her mother-in-law.
Sughran initially attempted to have Zara divorced by accusing her of misconduct and bad character. Failing in her efforts, she conspired to murder Zara with the help of her daughter Yasmin.
When Zara returned to Pakistan a month and a half ago, Sughran and Yasmin roped in their relative Naveed from Lahore by promising to send him to Italy in exchange for his assistance.
The suspects suffocated Zara with a pillow, dismembered her body, and burned her face to conceal her identity.
The body was placed in five bags, and Naveed went back to Lahore. Sughran, along with her daughter and grandson, later dumped the bags into a drain.
Zara’s father reported her missing to the police. During questioning, Sughran’s grandson revealed the entire truth, leading to the suspects’ arrests.
