Government of Punjab Initiatives for Basic Civic Facilities in Sahiwal District
In addition to the ongoing Annual Development Program, an additional fund of PKR 1.8 billion has been allocated.
The government of Punjab, Pakistan has accelerated efforts to provide basic civic facilities in Sahiwal district.
In addition to the ongoing Annual Development Program, an additional fund of PKR 1.8 billion has been allocated.
These funds have been distributed among all national and provincial assembly members of the district, with each receiving PKR 300 million to address local development needs.
Details of Development Schemes
According to Deputy Director Development, Muhammad Akram Wattoo, the assembly members have identified 107 development schemes.
These projects will be executed by the Local Government Department, Highway Department, and Public Health Department. Below are the details of key projects:
1- Highway Department Projects
- Work has begun on 21 schemes.
- NA-141 Constituency: 9 schemes with an estimated cost of PKR 180 million.
- PP-198 Constituency: 5 schemes requiring PKR 120 million.
- PP-199 Constituency: 8 schemes with a total cost of PKR 215 million.
2- Major Road Construction Projects
- Road from DPS Chowk to Bypass
Proposed by Provincial Assembly Member Malik Qasim Nadeem, this 4-kilometer road will cost PKR 64 million and will provide an alternative route to the bypass for residents.
- Reconstruction of Road from Noorshah to Madhali via Pak Avenue Colony
This project will cost PKR 61 million and aims to improve connectivity for the area’s residents.
3- Public Health Department Schemes
Performance guarantees have been requested from contractors for 7 schemes.
Funds Disbursed and Progress
Out of the PKR 1.8 billion allocated, PKR 901 million has been released so far, enabling the commencement of several projects. To date, work orders have been issued for 43 schemes, with others expected to start soon.
These initiatives are set to enhance public convenience and play a pivotal role in improving the district’s infrastructure.
