Expected Members of Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Squad
Imam-ul-Haq, the 29-year-old opening batsman, is poised for a return to the national side.
The ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025, in Pakistan and the UAE, is drawing closer.
As teams finalize their lineups, Pakistan’s squad is expected to feature seven batters, four fast bowlers, three spinners, and one wicketkeeper.
Mohammad Rizwan is likely to remain Pakistan’s sole wicketkeeper for the tournament, with Usman Khan, previously included as a backup in the South Africa ODI series, unlikely to make the final cut.
The pace attack is set to include Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf, with Mohammad Hasnain in the running for the fourth fast bowler spot.
For spin options, Shadab Khan, returning after a period of exclusion, is expected to be included alongside Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Moqim.
Shadab has shown solid performances in domestic competitions, despite his absence from several recent tours.
Imam-ul-Haq, the 29-year-old opening batsman, is poised for a return to the national side.
Imam has scored over 3,100 runs in ODIs and has been in good form in domestic tournaments since his last appearance in October 2023.
Aggressive opener Fakhar Zaman, also returning to the fold, impressed in recent T20 tournaments and is expected to join the squad, pending fitness assessments.
The return of Shadab Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, and Fakhar Zaman for the Champions Trophy seems highly likely, strengthening Pakistan’s lineup.
