Police raid the house of MPA Basma Riaz Choudhry, niece of Pervaiz Elahi

She stated that the Punjab government has become so blinded by political opposition that fundamental rights are being ignored.

Who is Basma Riaz Choudhry?

Basma Riaz Choudhry is a Pakistani politician affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She has a history in politics, having previously served as a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab under the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) from 2002 to 2008.

Basma is the daughter of Chaudhry Riaz Asghar, a former District Nazim of Mandi Bahauddin, and is a niece of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, a prominent political figure.

In the 2024 elections, she contested as a PTI candidate from the PP-41 constituency in Mandi Bahauddin. Her campaign gained attention amid allegations of political victimization, as one of her supporters’ families suffered severe police harassment, reportedly linked to their political affiliations​.
