Chief Minister Ali Amin has demanded a detailed report from senior officials and ordered strict action against those responsible for the attack.

Senior security and government officials have expressed serious concern, stating that the incident violates the peace agreement and exacerbates the existing humanitarian crisis in the region.

The government and security sources have assured that all possible measures will be taken to prevent future violent incidents.

They emphasized that the people of Kurram must unite to ensure their safety and the region’s future.

On January 4, 2025, a promising initiative in Kurram’s lower region turned tragic. A convoy carrying essential supplies, including food and medicine, was preparing to depart under the peace agreement.

Local peace committees had guaranteed its safe passage.

At 10:35 a.m., while the negotiation team was clearing the road for the convoy, 40–50 armed assailants opened fire on the vehicles, targeting DC Javed Mehsud and others.

A security official stated that the attack raised serious questions about how such an act occurred despite assurances from peace committees.

He urged the local population to hold peace committee leaders accountable for failing to honor their guarantees.

Government sources revealed that prominent local figures, including MPA Malik Riaz Shaheen, Malik Ghani, Dr. Qadir, Haji Kareem, Malik Saifullah, and Haji Sharif, had pledged to ensure peace in the area.

However, this tragic event is a stark reminder that extremist elements remain the greatest threat to regional stability.

The local community must now unite against these elements to avoid further consequences.

It is crucial to identify and confront those who disrupt peace within the region.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has extended his best wishes for the swift recovery of the injured, including the DC.

He condemned the attack, describing it as a deliberate and shameful attempt to sabotage the government’s peace efforts.

The Chief Minister assured that those involved in the firing would face strict legal action.

The provincial government remains committed to restoring peace in Kurram and resolving the challenges faced by its people.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the peace agreement is proof of the people of Kurram’s desire for stability.

While some extremist factions oppose peace in the region, their efforts will not succeed.
