FIA Arrests Main Suspect in 2023 Boat Tragedy
The victims were kept in safe houses in Libya under extremely poor conditions.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested the main suspect involved in the 2023 boat tragedy from Gujrat.
According to FIA officials, during an operation in Gujrat, a human smuggler identified as Suleman was apprehended. He is the primary accused in the 2023 boat incident.
FIA stated that seven individuals sent abroad by the suspect lost their lives in the boat accident, and seven separate cases have been registered against him.
Officials revealed that the arrested suspect extorted millions of rupees from the victims under the guise of sending them to Europe. He charged each of the seven victims PKR 2.4 million.
The FIA further disclosed that the suspect, along with accomplices, initially transported the victims to Libya via Egypt and Dubai.

Later, the suspect attempted to send the victims from Libya to Italy via boat. Tragically, the boat capsized, leading to the deaths of the victims.
The FIA stated that the suspect was arrested in Gujrat using advanced technology, and an investigation has been initiated. Raids are also being conducted to apprehend other accomplices.
It is worth noting that the Libya boat tragedy occurred in 2023, resulting in the drowning deaths of 50 individuals, including several Pakistanis.
