WhatsApp Introduces Group Mention in Status Updates
Previously, users had to tag individual contacts one by one in status updates.
WhatsApp, the popular Meta-owned messaging platform, is rolling out a new feature that allows users to mention entire group chats in their status updates.
Currently available to select beta testers, this update simplifies communication by enabling users to notify an entire group with just one mention, according to WABetaInfo.
Previously, users had to tag individual contacts one by one in status updates.
With the new feature, mentioning a group in a status update sends notifications to all participants in that group, ensuring that everyone is promptly alerted.
In a noteworthy twist, group members who aren’t part of the original status update’s privacy settings will still be able to view the status update when their group is mentioned, temporarily bypassing the usual privacy restrictions.
Moreover, those mentioned in a group chat can choose to share the status update with their own contacts, adding another layer of interaction.
This feature is designed to streamline group communication, making it easier to keep everyone in the loop with minimal effort.
