Baroda Smashes T20 Records with Mammoth 349/5 and 37 Sixes
Batting first, Baroda's top-order unleashed an awe-inspiring display of power hitting, led by Bhanu Pania.
Baroda’s cricket team has rewritten T20 history with a staggering total of 349 for five in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Sikkim, according to Geo Super.
The record-breaking innings also featured an unprecedented 37 sixes, setting a new benchmark in T20 cricket.
Batting first, Baroda’s top-order unleashed an awe-inspiring display of power hitting, led by Bhanu Pania.
Pania’s sensational unbeaten 134 off just 51 balls, studded with four boundaries and a jaw-dropping 15 sixes, was the cornerstone of the innings.
He was ably supported by quickfire fifties from Abhimanyu Singh (53 off 17), Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17), and Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16).
Together, they propelled Baroda to a monumental total, leaving Sikkim’s bowlers hapless against the onslaught.
Despite picking up two wickets, Sikkim’s Roshan Kumar bore the brunt of Baroda’s aggression, conceding 81 runs in his four-over spell.
Leeyong Lepcha and Palzor Tamang also faced heavy punishment, giving away 55 and 45 runs, respectively, with Tamang managing to claim two wickets.
Baroda’s 37 sixes obliterated the previous record of 27 sixes in a T20 innings, set by Zimbabwe against Gambia during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier on October 23, 2024.
In response, Sikkim crumbled under the pressure, managing just 86 for seven in their 20 overs. Only two of their batters crossed the 15-run mark.
Baroda’s spinners, led by Krunal Pandya, Ninad Rathva, and Mahesh Pithiya, shared five wickets, sealing an emphatic 263-run victory—the fourth-largest margin in T20 history.
This historic performance dethrones Zimbabwe’s 344/4 as the highest team total in T20 cricket.
Zimbabwe’s record, led by Sikandar Raza’s blistering 133* off 43 balls, stood for less than two months. Baroda’s monumental feat reaffirms their dominance in the shortest format of the game.
