Punjab Schools Reopen Nov 19, Except Lahore & Multan
This reopening marks a significant step as smog conditions improve in many areas of Punjab.
Senior Minister of Punjab, Maryam Aurangzeb, has announced that, following an improvement in smog conditions, all educational institutions in Punjab (except for Lahore and Multan divisions) will reopen from November 19, under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Aurangzeb stated that the change in the direction and speed of eastern winds has significantly improved smog conditions in the province.
After recent rainfall in various parts of Punjab, the Department of Environmental Protection issued a notification announcing the reopening of educational institutions in divisions other than Multan and Lahore.
The notification, signed by EPA Director-General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, highlighted an improvement in air quality in most districts of Punjab due to rain, changes in wind direction, and speed.
Therefore, all educational institutions, except those in Lahore and Multan divisions, will reopen on Tuesday, November 19, with certain restrictions and precautionary measures.
Precautions and Measures:
According to the Environmental Protection Department’s advisory, the following precautions will be implemented in the districts where schools will reopen:
Schools will not open before 8:45 AM.
All students, teachers, and staff must wear masks.
Outdoor sports and extracurricular activities will remain prohibited.
Separate dismissal timings will be implemented for different classes to avoid traffic congestion.
School administrations will be responsible for ensuring compliance with these precautions.
