Retired teachers welcome UAE’s Private Teaching Work Permit
This work permit allows you to increase your income reasonably in the Emirates.
Dubai (Khalij Urdu. Arshad Farooq Butt) The United Arab Emirates has recently announced a “Private Teaching Work Permit” to provide legal protection to tutoring outside schools.
This work permit allows you to increase your income reasonably in the Emirates. The new work permit was welcomed by Pakistani teachers as well as students posted in UAE schools.
Now there are also views of retired employees, especially those from the education sector, who are looking at this work permit as a facility to extend their stay in the UAE.
This route allows them to extend their residency in the UAE even after they retire from their main career.
A retired teacher based in Dubai says, “I have been teaching in the UAE for 28 years. But after retirement, despite having vast experience, I did not get a job. I approached several parents but they turned me down because tuition was not legally allowed.
I would definitely like to continue teaching and the new work permit has given me an opportunity. Parents are also always looking for good teachers who have skills and experience.
UAE Teachers not Allowed to Coach their school students
Teachers in the United Arab Emirates are not allowed to coach their school students using work permit for private tutions.
According to the details, in order to obtain a work permit for private tuition, teachers are required to sign a “code of conduct” which clearly prohibits them from “providing services directly to students affiliated with their schools.”
This “code of conduct” document consists of 7 points which states that disclosure of any conflict of interest is necessary.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorized private tuition in December of last year along with the issuance of a new license to conduct coaching outside of schools.
Educators stated that they would discourage teachers from privately tutoring their own kids since there could be a conflict of interest when the permit was originally announced. They had expressed doubts about the teachers’ capacity to uphold justice or neutrality, particularly in cases involving evaluations.
What is Code of conduct for Private Tuitions?
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has defined private tuitions as the “practice of providing educational lessons outside of school hours by qualified educators”.
Applicants must have to sign the code of conduct with other documents to get the two-year work permit. The teachers are instructed to be professional and should not indulge into sending emails or images to the students.
