UAE to allow visit visa holders to work legally in the Emirates

A work permit and other legal requirements may be established to allow employers to hire visitors legally in the UAE.
According to current laws, it is illegal to work in the UAE on a visit visa. Companies hiring visitors face heavy fines. Companies in the UAE are required to obtain work permits and residence visas for visitors.
Dr. Ali Hameed bin Khatam, Advocate General, Head of Naturalization and Residency Prosecution, said that allowing companies to legally hire visitors would help build mutually beneficial relationships.
“Companies need to start and there are a lot of tourists in our country looking for jobs. This way both sides can benefit.”
He made the suggestion earlier this week at the Entrepreneurship Makers Forum organized by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai in Al Khawanij.

For the past one month, Pakistani and Indian companies were facing difficulties in issuing visas. Emirati authorities have asked these companies to ensure that the first 20 percent of the available quota is diversified when applying for new permits.
Due to the unannounced ban, many Pakistani and Indian citizens had to go through a long wait. Migrants who quit their jobs to change companies faced long waits for work permits from new employers.
