New Starfield Update Rolls Out: Here’s What’s Changed

This update is currently available in beta and can be accessed by PC players through Steam.

Bethesda has begun releasing another update for Starfield to enhance the gameplay experience for its space-exploring RPG.

Following the release of the Starfield: Shattered Space expansion in late September, which introduced a wealth of new content.

Bethesda has continued issuing updates to refine the game and address issues brought about by the expansion. Now, the latest patch focuses on performance improvements for Xbox Series X and PC.

This update is currently available in beta and can be accessed by PC players through Steam.

To test it out, players can go to the “Betas” section of the title on Steam and opt-in for the download.

Key fixes focus on resolving gameplay issues, notably with the Trackers Alliance missions, as well as unlocking an uncapped framerate option for Xbox Series X.

Xbox users will need to wait until the update is formally released to utilize this feature.

While Bethesda hasn’t specified an exact date for when the update will be available across all platforms, it’s expected to go live later in November.

General Updates

Performance and Stability: Various performance and stability improvements across platforms.
Uncapped Framerate: Xbox Series X users can once again select an uncapped framerate option.
Message of the Day: Improved consistency in displaying messages on Xbox.
Console Commands: Fixed certain achievements that weren’t disabled by console commands.
Shattered Space Ownership: Corrected ownership recognition for Steam users.

Gameplay Fixes

Companion Reactions: The Annihilator Particle Beam no longer triggers unnecessary companion reactions.
Leadership Skill: Resolved issues preventing companions from speaking.
Stealth Bar Improvements: Better functionality when near NPC crowds.
Ship Collisions: Fixed instances where destroyed ships could appear without collision.
Save Loading Issue: Addressed issues with save files relying on missing content that could place players in undesirable locations.

Trackers Alliance:

Roach now accurately tracks completed bounties.

Bounty targets now appear in Akila, Gagarin, and Cydonia.

Fixed exploit where players could receive extra credits by both extorting and killing bounty targets.

Increased visual variety among bounty targets.

The update removes bounty targets after completion and upon exiting the area.

Bribery or extortion of bounty targets is no longer a guaranteed success.

Quest-Specific Fixes

The Starjacker: The correct quest objective displays when boarding the Junker Watchdog.

Legacy of the Fang: Fixed issues with the door key if the player leaves the area.

The Duel: Players can now complete the quest by speaking to Danika after attacking her and being arrested.

The Scaled Citadel: Anasko’s ID Key is now marked as a quest item.

What Remains: Fixed a non-interactable hatch on The Oracle and marked the Engineering Bay Access Card as a quest item.

A House Divided:

Radiology center doors stay unlocked if the player exits and returns.
Players can now retrieve a keycard from Madri post-quest.

Zealous Overreach:

This update fixes a bug that allowed players to kill Va’ruun Zealots outside Shadow Station Epsilon before the quest begins.

Addressed an issue with the “Conflict in Conviction” quest interfering with conversations with Razma or Viktor.
Adjusted Vortex Phantoms to prevent interference with negotiation scenes.

This update smooths gameplay and resolves player-reported issues, promising a more refined experience in the Starfield universe.
