Sahiwal Medical College holds 4th Convocation at Jinnah Hall

Provincial Health Minister Prof. Dr. Muhammad Javed Akram has said that the Punjab government has completed the major task of providing basic health facilities and improving infrastructure in 113 hospitals of the province in a record period, on which a huge sum of Rs. 80 billion has been spent. .

There is no hospital in the province where modern health facilities are not available to patients. It is necessary for the doctor to adopt a gentle and humane attitude towards the patient.

He was addressing the fourth convocation of Sahiwal Medical College at Jinnah Hall here. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro-Chancellor of University of Health Sciences Dr. Nadia Naseem, Commissioner Sahiwal Shoaib Iqbal Syed, Principal Sahiwal Medical College Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran Hasan Khan, MS Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Dr. Akhtar Mehboob, former principals Prof. Dr. Rashid Qamar Rao and Prof. Dr. Zafar Tanveer, faculty members, students and their parents were also present.

He said that the greatest test of a doctor is his attitude towards the patient because the suffering person expects that the person who treats him should be on the highest level of humanity.

He said that the patient is the greatest asset of the doctor because the prayers coming out of his heart can beautify the world and the hereafter of the doctor.

He said that Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi is giving special importance to the health sector and due to his personal interest, the problems faced by government hospitals were solved in a record time while Nishtar II Multan and Fatima Jinnah Dental Institute Lahore are also nearing completion. are in stages.

Dr. Muhammad Javed Akram termed the establishment of Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology as another milestone in the availability of better health facilities in the region and said that 2 angiography machines and other necessary medical equipment are also being provided to the institute on priority basis. While the MRI machine will also be functional very soon.

He urged the parents not to keep the girls at home after becoming doctors but let them work so that the country can make full use of their talents.

He said that the government is spending one and a half crore rupees on the education of a doctor, which should also benefit the society.

On this occasion, he also announced to provide funds for the construction of an auditorium in the college. Earlier, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, urged the students who would become doctors to keep their oath and devote their full attention to serving the suffering humanity.

He also announced to conduct training courses and workshops for post graduates in Sahiwal Medical College itself.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran Hasan Khan shed light on the curricular and co-curricular activities of the college and said that there are currently 970 beds in Sahiwal Teaching Hospital which started with 377 beds.

While 180 beds have been approved for cardiology institute. In this way, Sahiwal Teaching Hospital with 1150 beds has become the seventh largest teaching hospital in the province where expert doctors in all fields are serving humanity.

He congratulated the graduating doctors and urged them to spare no effort in serving their parents and humanity.

In the convocation, Dr. Abubakar was adjudged the best doctor while Dr. Zamisha Tanveer, Dr. Uzma Amin and Dr. Zarmin Nadeem were awarded medals for securing the first, second and third position respectively in the college.
