Accused killed in Chichawatni police custody

Chichawatni (Sahiwal Updates – 13 August 2023) At Shahkot police station accused in custody lost his life due to alleged torture, on which a case was registered against SHO Shahkot police station Ijaz Aslam, SI Rana Abid Hussain and six officials.

According to the details, after the accused Tariq son of Kabir Baloch, who was detained in Shahkot police station, was killed in police custody, the citizens protested strongly and blocked the road in Iqbal Nagar.

On the protest of the citizens, DSP Circle Meher Wasim Sial reached the spot and cleared the road. Taking notice of the unrest, DPO Sahiwal Faisal Shehzad ordered to register a case against SHO Shahkot Police Station Ejaz Aslam, SI Rana Abid Hussain and six employees on the request of the plaintiff.

On this occasion, DPO Sahiwal Faisal Shahzad said that the law was equal for all and the responsible would be punished.

It should be noted that the accused, Tariq son of Kabir Baloch was in the custody of the Chichawatni police for several days and the family members were not allowed to meet. When the condition of the accused became worse after severe torture, instead of taking the accused to the government hospital, the police took the accused to Dr. Muratab Ali’s private hospital, Rahat Surgical, where the accused died of his injuries.

The deceased accused Tariq was 35 years old and used to sell goats. The relatives of the accused have demanded that action should be taken against Dr. Muratab on the charge of facilitation so that no private hospital can cover up the police’s exploits.
