12 Security Personnel Martyred in Bannu Suicide Attack: ISPR
ISPR reiterated the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating.
In a tragic incident on November 19, 2024, a suicide attack targeted a joint check post in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the martyrdom of 12 security personnel, including 10 from the security forces and two from the Frontier Constabulary, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The attackers, identified as members of the Khawarij militant group, attempted to breach the post in the Mali Khel area. During the confrontation, six attackers were neutralized.
However, the assailants used an explosive-laden vehicle to ram the perimeter wall of the check post, triggering a powerful suicide blast.
The explosion caused significant structural damage, leading to the collapse of part of the wall and resulting in the tragic loss of 12 brave soldiers. Several others sustained injuries in the attack.
Immediate Response and Military Resolve
In the aftermath, security forces launched a comprehensive sanitisation operation to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
ISPR reiterated the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating:
“The sacrifices of our soldiers strengthen our resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from our homeland.”
The military vowed to hold those responsible for the attack accountable and emphasized the unwavering dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguarding national security.
Condolences from National Leadership
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the loss of lives, paying tribute to the martyred soldiers.
They reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism and pledged full support to the families of the fallen heroes.
Earlier Incidents of Sacrifice
A devastating attack has followed another tragic incident in Balochistan’s Harnai district on November 14, where terrorists martyred two security personnel, including Major Muhammad Haseeb and Havildar Noor Ahmed, during an operation.
The soldiers, leading from the front, successfully neutralized three militants before an IED blast claimed their lives.
The series of attacks underscores the persistent challenges faced by Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
